I have already add a basic carbon filter to the hot and cold water supply when getting the water system to work. This is great for the UK which has a good, clean potable water supply.
Now it's time to add some additional filtration for the drinking water.
This can clean 4500L of water which is change the filter after 45 x 100L tanks. There is one fitted in both the hot and cold water supply.
This ensures the water is basically clean and good enough for washing and bathing.
In practice I have been drinking the water on the boat for over a year with no ill effect but my current water supply is to UK drinking water standards.
Seaflo 55-Series Diaphragm Pump
12V DC
5.5 GPM (25 LPM)
60 PSI (Variable 17-70 PSI)
20 PSI switch on pressure.
Heavy duty pressure switch.
The Geekpure RO5 five stage filter system removes 1000+ contaminants.
It has a capacity of 75 gallons per day @ 60 psi (with a 2:1 waste ratio) and will have a dedicated pump.
Recommend pressure range 40 to 100 PSI
The accumulator tank holds 2.8 gal (12.7 L) of water ready for drinking.
The Aqua Source filter is a basic carbon filter and is great at cleaning up any taste in the water. This is great for cooking, washing and bathing but does have its limitations for drinking water. I have been using this setup for over a year for drinking with no ill effects.
A 5 stage filter takes this further and cleans out a whole range of contaminants.
It removes everything larger than a water molecule but at a cost. For every 1 litre of drinking water there will be 2 litres of waste water.
So to fill the 12 L fresh water tank it will produce 24 L of waste water using a total of 36 L of water out of my 100 L fresh water tank.
Its always a compromise between what you want, what will fit and what you can afford.
